Selection of linear guide rail

    There are many brands in the linear guide rail market, and most of them can be compatible. When selecting linear guideway, the selection of the LM rail’s width, length, the type and quantity of linear block sliders, precision grade, preloading and combination height assembly type is particularly important.
1. The width of the slide rail. Linear Rail width is one of the key factors to determine the load size.

2. The track length of the linear guide rail. The total length = effective stroke + the distance between sliders (more than 2 slides) + slider length×the number of slides + protective cover at both ends. Please confirm the maximum length of the entire guide rail of this specification in advance. If the maximum length is exceeded, it shall be joint the butt. 

The installation hole spacing on the linear guide rail is fixed, so please pay attention to the position when determining the LM Rail length. If the required length is not the standard length, please inform the supplier of the required end size in addition. Different brands have slight differences on the end size, but most suppliers will do average cutting at both ends by default.
3. The type and quantity of slider. By default, one guide rail should be equipped with two slides, and there are two types of linear carriage: flange type and square type. Flange type height is a little lower, but a little wider, the mounting hole is through the thread hole, while the square is a little higher, a little narrower, the mounting hole is the thread blind hole. Flanged linear guide and square linear guide are divided into short, standard and long.

4.Accuracy grade: N, H, P, SP, UP.  When choosing the precision, the ordinary precision (N class precision) can meet most industrial machinery’s requirements, and H class with higher precision level. The common choice for CNC machine tools and other equipment is to select the P Pprecision class, while SP and UP are suitable for other ultra-precision machinery.

5. Preloading grades. The preloading classes are mainly micro gap, zero gap, light preloading, medium preloading and heavy preloading.

6. Combination height assembly type. The combination height types are mainly high assembly type and low profile type.
