How to Prevent Rust of Linear Guide

2020-06-16

At present, linear guide rails and ball screws have been widely used in cnc machine tools, precision inspection instruments, all-electric injection molding machines, robots, mechanical arms, 3d printing equipment, packaging machinery, woodworking machinery and other fields requiring precision drive control and positioning.  However, due to the influence of external environment, these linear guide rails are very easy to be corroded in use.  The corrosion of linear guide rail is mainly caused by two reasons: one is the metal corrosion of bearing itself, and the other is the corrosion of tool elements.  The metal corrosion of the linear guide rail itself accounts for the vast majority. Due to the special reasons of the working environment, rust is inevitable in many cases.  Especially when the weather is hot, the operator's hand sweat can also cause the linear guide rail to rust. Sweat is easy to cause the linear guide rail to rust, so do not directly touch the guide rail with your hands.  People must sweat, and to avoid rusting of the linear guide rail in their hands, gloves, finger cuffs or special tools should be worn when holding the linear guide rail.  Human sweat is a colorless, transparent or yellowish liquid with salty taste and weak acidity, and its ph value is 5~6.  Besides sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium salts, it also contains a small amount of organic acids such as urea, lactic acid and citric acid.  When human sweat comes into contact with metal, a layer of sweat film will be formed on the metal surface, which will cause electrochemical action on the metal and corrode the metal.
